ROLE: Costume designer and Production Stage Manager
This show presented the exciting challenge of recreating costumes for characters based on the famous painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. This required finding fabrics with patterns that resembled the pointallism technique as well as interpreting the painting to ensure all designs were built to be functional and period specific.
In addition to the costumes in Act I, the show also requires styling the entire cast in modern gala attire for Act II. I strived to design each character with their own style and quirks that would embody the attendees of a modern day gallery opening.
Lastly, my design required a mechnical dress which I designed and built myself- including welding, installing remote operated mechanisms and draping the dress on top of the base. Be sure to check out the dress page for more details.
